Organic: Has always been the best way to tend God's green earth. We here at Head Tide Farm have been active member of Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners association (MOGFA) for Decades.
Christian: We recognize God of the Bible as our Creator. Genesis 1:1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." After creating man God went on to explain in Genesis 1:29 "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth and every tree which as fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you. "You can read more about the Gospel at Maine Maritime Ministry.org.
Permaculture: As we learned about God's Creation we naturally found ourselves becoming interested in Permaculture. Permaculture observes to understands God's design in creation so we can best work with it. Years ago we studied and received our certificate from the Regenerative Institute. We have found that using an older model sickle bar mower conditioner produces a much better organic hay bale. Flail mower beat the hay up with many cuts losing many of the nutritious parts of the plant. Leaving them on the ground instead of the organic hay bale. Each year our hay bales are getting better as we tend the fields and pay attention to each detail.
PFAS: We did our research and Head Tide Farm is PFAS free! We have personally known the previous owners of our property of over past 50years. We know that no PFAS has ever been spread on our property and prior to this time PFAS was not available. So fortunately our organic farm is also PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances - Forever chemical) free! Healthy soil for healthy hay.
History: Founded by Abraham Tarr, a Revolutionary War Veteran back in 1786. Our Farm was part of the famous breadbasket of America when New England fed our young and growing country.
In the early 1900's it was a dairy farm.
After that the land rested for decades by mowing and the occasional baling of hay. It is once more put into production with our organic field improvement that make our farm and hay bales better each year. (Organic Lime & Pelletized Chicken Manure & Mowing)
Our organic hay is reasonably priced and is a easy to handle small bale. See our add here in Uncle Henry's.
We are located in beautiful Whitefield Maine along with our Amish neighbors.
